Preparations for 2019

After calling for volunteers in August 2017, a crew of 5 staff members joined forces and became the Centenary Committee. For just over a year now, we have been meeting and planning the events that will be held in 2019 to celebrate 100 years of the great Toowoomba State High School. It has been a wonderful experience for us already just talking with many past students from several different decades going back to the 1930’s. So many people have shared their stories and wished us well and so many have assured us of their intention to help celebrate the weekend of May 17, 18 & 19 next year as we host our official Celebration events.

The celebration weekend will kick off on the Friday evening as we gather for our Centenary Soiree in the MPC at Mt. Lofty. We will be entertained by past and present musically-talented students as we enjoy a supper thanks to our tireless P&C.

The next day, Saturday May 18, will provide all interested parties with the opportunity to visit the original school venue; The Technical College, then enjoy guided tours through the Mt. Lofty Campus. Both tours will no doubt bring back many memories for those who spent their school years with us. Food will be available all day at Mt. Lofty and the children will have the chance to take a turn on the jumping castle and even have some face painting done.

Following the tours, we will commence our official Centenary Commemoration Ceremony where we will formally recognise 100 years of education at Toowoomba State High School. Part of this ceremony will see the opening of the Centenary Courtyard. Be sure to check the Souvenirs link at the top of this page for the opportunity to purchase an engraved paver that will see your name remembered for all-time in our courtyard. The Souvenirs link also provides an opportunity to pre-order other memorabilia available for the Centenary year only.

Please check back here soon for more information as we move closer to the 100th year of Toowoomba State High School.
